Major Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy was killed and several individuals were injured.

The attacks follow evenings of air raids in the area, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with attacks already impacting energy systems.
