Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has stated he shares a portion of the fault for a serious ailment to the team’s quarterback, Daniels.
Particulars of the Injury and Situation
Daniels, who had one of the greatest first-year performances of all time the previous year, sustained a dislocated left elbow in the Sunday defeat to the Seahawks. Even though Daniels throws with his right arm, the injury has placed his season uncertain. The condition was significant enough that the TV coverage did not show repeats and multiple athletes turned away as Daniels was attended to by team doctors.
Backlash and Leader’s Response
Coach Quinn faced scrutiny as many felt Daniels should not have been on the field to begin with. The injury happened in the final period with the Commanders trailing 38-7, making a recovery unlikely. It is common in such circumstances for teams to put in their backup quarterback to avoid injuries to their starter.
“I understand. I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, too, and, man, I missed it,” he remarked of his decision to keep Daniels in the game. “That is 100% on me.”
Aftermath and Squad Prospects
Mariota will be the Commanders’ primary QB going forward, but he will lead a roster in disarray. After reaching the NFC championship game last season thanks to the rookie’s excellence, the team have faced difficulties this season. They additionally saw injuries to defensive back Marshon Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a number of other starters on the injury list. The Washington squad are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would require a massive turnaround for the club to reach the playoffs.
